First CDC-Tandem-Speed-Dating Event at UPB
On Friday 19th November 2021 Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Bremser (Prorector of the Sino-German-Campus) and the CDC Team (Dr. H. T. Tran-Thien, M.Sc. M. Tang) have been welcoming 28 students to the first speed-dating event. Chinese students from the Sino-German-Campus and course participants of Chinese-courses (ZfS) had the chance to get to know each other. Five groups were formed; each groups have had in total 10 minutes for the speech-tandem before it comes to a next rotation. During that time in the first part all students have had to talk in Chinese and afterwards switch to German language.
The speed-dating event is an joint pilot-project between ZfS (Zentrum für Sprachlehre an der UPB) led by Dr. S. Behrent and her team (R. Wolf, I. Dönhoff) and the CDC team. Both groups strive to offer additional learning tool to their chinese and german students. In deed the tandem program is a most efficient language learning platform, where native speakers do the linguistical final touch.
The speed-dating met with a positive response; feedbacks from students show that during that short time many new words were picked up and their vocabulary extended amazingly. New contacts with several tandem partners were made; on the same day a group chat in the social-media platform WeChat has been established in order to communicate easily. Further CDC-tandem-speed-dating events are now planned by the CDC Team; most probably organized in the next year 2022 around the Lunar New Year Festival.
