CDC Easter Egg Event

Easter is the anniversary of the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his death on the cross, and a traditional holiday in Western countries. Easter symbolises rebirth and hope. The egg is the most typical symbol of Easter. On the eve of Easter, people colour and paint eggs and hide them indoors or in the grass for children to find. Eggs signify the arrival of spring and the birth of new life.

On 14 April 2022, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Bremser (Vice Director of Sino-German Campus) and CDC team members (Dr. H. T. Tran-Thien, M. Sc. M. Tang, Wenjian Zhou) jointly organised the Easter egg events so that CDC students in Germany can better experience the cultural atmosphere of German traditional festivals. The team members prepared a large number of eggs and Easter-specific dyes and brushes. The students were able to paint the eggs themselves. After cooking, dyeing and painting, further the eggs were finally hidden. During this painting process, the students let their imagination run wild to make each egg look lifelike - each egg had beautiful clothing, so to speak. The students' creativity was integrated into each Easter egg. Paintings such as logos of football teams, cartoon characters, individual graffiti can be found on the eggshell. The next step is the Easter egg hunt. The Easter eggs painted by the student were placed separately in 40 Easter egg baskets. At this point, Prof. Bremser and the CDC team members hid the Easter egg baskets on the Y-building. After the hiding, the exciting Easter egg hunt officially started: students can take their own found Easter eggs home as souvenirs, while enjoying the Easter eggs painted by others. In addition, Ms Tang of CDC teams cooked "tea eggs"; a Chinese delicacy. The students reminisced about the taste of their hometown.

The activity ended successfully, the teachers and students were happy and cooperated in the activity. Through these activities, students learned about the origin of Easter and its customs as well as habits, while strengthening the communication between teachers and students. The CDC is looking forward to offering these cultural activities again next year so that the students can understand Germany better and integrate into German life better and faster.
