VISA, TRAVEL & SECURITY

Visa

As a citizen of a member state of the European Union, you do not need a visa within the EU. Nevertheless, please note the locally applicable regulations on reporting obligations, etc.

As a non-EU citizen or if you are staying outside the European Union, please contact the relevant embassy for information about the currently applicable visa regulations.

Travel and safety information

Please follow the travel and safety instructions from the Federal Foreign Office at regular intervals.

We recommend that you register in the ELEFAND crisis prevention list during your stay abroad.

Health insurance

If you want to study in Germany, you require health insurance. Without them, international students are not allowed to enroll at a German university. It is therefore worthwhile to clarify the question of insurance at an early stage.

Health insurance serves as a safeguard that the costs for medical treatment and medicines do not have to be paid privately in the event of an accident or illness. It is mandatory in Germany. International students must have proof of their insurance with them when they enroll.
